The princess royal had an important role in the ceremony, which royal watchers had the chance to see her fulfill after the service.Anne, who was the Gold-Stick-in-Waiting, rode horseback behind the new king and his queen, Camilla, as they rode in the Gold State Coach from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace.

Her «Robe of Estate,» meanwhile, was embroidered with 24 plants, including the Lily of the Valley, which was the late queen's favorite flower. During the ceremony, Camilla was crowned with Queen Mary's Crown, which was made for the 1911 coronation of Queen Mary, the consort of King George V.

London’s Metropolitan Police have arrested republican protesters at Trafalgar Square. The protests appeared to be peaceful, according to reports, and the protesters were arrested while unloading placards. Shelly Asquith, health, safety and wellbeing officer at the Trade Union Congress, posted on Twitter: “Outrageous scenes of cops arresting anti-monarchy protestors and stealing their placards So we are not allowed to show public opposition to a bloke being crowned head of state for having been born into unimaginable wealth while ppl line up at food banks and schools fall apart.”
