Ant and Dec are among the guests at Westminster Abbey in London today to watch King Charles' Coronation. Before the historic ceremony, the presenting pair caught up with Loose Women star Charlene White, where they spilled on a hilarious moment during their stay at Dumfries House – Charles’ house in Scotland. The pair revealed they bumped into the King, 74, during their sleepover at the house.
Ant and Dec recalled a project they worked on with Charles back in 2016 where they followed the monarch – who was then the Prince of Wales – "around for a year". And during filming they got to stay overnight at Charles' Scottish home.
Dec said: "We thought we'd be in a wing somewhere down the end of the estate, but we got there and we got inside and our bedrooms were next door to his. "So we were literally in the next door bedroom, which meant we had to keep the noise down a bit - not that we're noisy - but you had an encounter with him on the stairs." Ant then continued: "I walked out the door at one point and I thought, 'Well, it's not like we're going to bump into him' and I walked out of the door and he was there with a pair of secateurs.
"And I was like, 'Hi' and then he goes, 'One finds it's always best if one prunes the roses oneself, don't you find?' and I said, 'Absolutely'. He added: "But, yeah, we had no idea we were going to be next door, so that was a delight." Ant and Dec are some of the celebrity guests who have begun arriving at the abbey for the King’s coronation as thousands flocked to the capital to share in the historic day. They were snapped in their smart morning suits alongside other famous faces such as Dame Emma Thompson, musicians Lionel Richie and Nick Cave.
