A number of killer drivers are amongst those who have been locked up in Greater Manchester this month, including the boy racers Omar Choudhury and Hamidur Rahman who caused the death of 16-year-old Alisha Goup.
A sham airport parking boss, an XL Bully owner who left a young girl with serious injuries and a prison officer who had a relationship with an inmate have also been jailed in our region.
Prison terms are handed out to the most serious offenders. Manchester Evening News reporters are on the press bench each day to cover such cases.

Here are the criminals locked up in Greater Manchester in September:
A balaclava-clad thug attacked an old school friend outside a shop following a petty dispute before threatening him if he went to the police.
William Thompson, along with five other unknown men, followed the victim in a BMW van before punching and kicking him in the street in Bury.
As he tried to run away he was followed into a shop firstly by Thompson, 25, before he was repeatedly struck by the other masked men who were wielding a baseball bat and an axe.
He suffered a deep wound to the back of his head, a bleed on the brain and is now suffering with hearing problems, Minshull Street Crown Court was told.
Thompson, of Spring Grove, Bury, was jailed for three years and eight months.
A family who ran an unscrupulous ‘meet and greet’ parking business near Manchester Airport have been hauled before the courts after hundreds of holidaymakers had their cars damaged or stolen.
