James Middleton posted a snap of a young Princess of Wales climbing a mountain, as he wished her well with an inspiring message. As a family, we will climb this one with you too." On Friday 22 March, Kate underwent abdominal surgery in January and at the time it was thought her condition was non-cancerous. Following the procedure, tests showed cancer had been present and the Princess of Wales, 42, is now undergoing a course of preventative chemotherapy. Speaking in a video message, Kate said she "looks forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery".
She added that she is focussing on getting well and stronger every day "by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits". She explained how she and William want to protect their young children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis and explain her diagnosis in a way they will understand. Kate said: "This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.
"As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok."
