Kate Middleton has opened up about coming to terms with her heartbreaking cancer diagnosis with her family.
In a personal video to the public on Friday afternoon, the Princess of Wales revealed that she has been diagnosed with the illness after receiving her abdominal surgery in January.
The 42-year-old revealed that doctors did not initially think she had cancer but post-op tests results showed otherwise.
Kate, who has not disclosed the type of cancer she has, thanked the public for their continued support and well wishes as she recovers at home in Windsor.
She has asked for privacy to be with her family as she continues the course of treatment.
Kate also expressed her gratitude towards the medical professionals who have been looking after her as well as her husband Prince William, and children - Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
She began: "I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I have been recovering from surgery," Kate began.
"It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful."
Catherine added that the diagnosis has been a "huge shock" and that she and William have been doing all they can to manage her health "for the sake of our young family".
She continued: "As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment.
"But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok."
