Bruno Fernandes will cap off a mammoth season when his Portugal side face Iceland in their second Euro 2024 qualifier on Tuesday.
The Manchester United midfielder starred on Saturday as Portugal beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 3-0, setting up Bernardo Silva for the opener before scoring twice himself. In doing so, he reached the excellent milestone of 40 goals contributions for club and country this season, with 21 goals and 19 assists.
It was the 28-year-old's 69th appearance of a long and arduous season, with 59 games for United coming either side of a World Cup with his national side. After Saturday's win, Fernandes posted a series of pictures on his Instagram alongside the caption: "Attitude, professionalism and quality that was needed to earn the 3 points. Thanks for the support Portuguese".
Among a number of people to comment was Juan Mata, who summed up Fernandes' season in just four words. "You play so much," the Spaniard stated.

Speaking at a press conference after Saturday's victory, Belgium manager Roberto Martinez praised his player for showing a consistent desire to play, regardless of the hectic schedule.
He said: "We always ask the player about the number of games they have played, and I can tell you he is the perfect example of players who love playing games – what they don’t like as much is to train, that’s clear! But to play games is enjoyable. He plays with a smile."
