The Sex Pistols’ official social media accounts have announced a reissue of the band’s second single, ‘God Save The Queen’, with two limited edition recreations of the original vinyl releases being made available to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee.Back in 1977, releasing ‘God Save The Queen’ to coincide with the monarch’s silver jubilee seemed so dangerous that some retailers refused to stock the record and some versions of that week’s official chart blanked out the track’s title. Yet putting it out again 45 years later to coincide with the latest anniversary of the Queen taking the throne almost makes it feel like the record is part of the official celebrations.The single will be re-pressed so to recreate the original releases as pressed by both A&M and Virgin.

Sex Pistols are set to reissue their classic single ‘God Save The Queen’ to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next month.The protest song was officially released by the band via Virgin in May 1977. Despite being banned by the BBC, it reached number one on the NME chart and number two on the UK’s singles chart (the track was listed as a blank on the latter to avoid causing offence).Prior to that, however, the band had been controversially dropped by their previous label A&M, prompting the destruction of 25,000 unreleased copies of ‘God Save The Queen’.

He also is shown to conduct his private life as he wishes, outside of the moral contraints and expectations of the time. The movie culminates in the victory of the German national team, which he managed, in the 1990 World Cup.Klaus Steinbacher, whose credits include “Das Boot” and “Oktoberfest 1900,” takes the leading role.

Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon has slammed Danny Boyle’s forthcoming six-part biopic series about the band, Pistol, as a “middle class fantasy”.In a statement on Lydon’s website, a representative says they were “led to believe” that the series would focus on founding member Steve Jones and would not be “a Sex Pistols story”, but that that “doesn’t seem to be the case” based on its trailer.“John’s ‘likeness’ is clearly being used to sell this series, a series he was not involved in, and was put together behind his back,” the statement continues.“Putting words in John’s mouth and rewriting history. Joy Division, Sex Pistols, New Order and more bands integral to the city’s musical history, the BPA promises to “celebrate and preserve British popular music and other aspects of popular culture, recognising its pivotal influence on the world stage.”The BPA’s first exhibit will come in the form of ‘Collection’, launching on May 19. A statement describes it as “a distinctively Manchester-flavoured exhibition, underlining why the city is the perfect home for the British Pop Archive.
