Jet2 has warned passengers of ‘delays’ due to ‘adverse weather conditions’ in parts of Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean. The airline said it was experiencing Air Traffic Control slot delays and urged passengers to allow plenty of time to travel to the airport if their destination is experiencing bad weather.
The delays are impacting those who are due to arrive, depart or fly across the Eastern Mediterranean and the Balearic Islands. Jet2 has issued the warning from July 1 to July 3.
It comes as storms batter the Balearic Islands, while heavy rain is forecast over parts of mainland Europe including Austria, Czechia and Poland, according to weather site accuweather.com. Spain’s Meteorological agency AEMET has issued yellow and amber weather warnings for the Balearic Islands, along with mainland Spain.

Yellow warnings for rain and storms are in place for the islands of Ibiza and Majorca. An amber warning for a ‘sudden rise in sea levels’ - a phenomenon known as a ‘meteotsunami’ - is in place for Menorca. Yellow and amber warnings for heavy rain have been issued along Spain’s east coast, including Barcelona, Valencia and Alicante.
In a statement on its website, Jet2 said: “We are currently experiencing some Air Traffic Control slot delays on flights that are due to arrive, depart or fly across the Eastern Mediterranean and the Balearic Islands, this is due to adverse weather conditions (Thunder Storms) in many parts of Eastern Europe. If you are currently on holiday and experiencing bad weather, please allow plenty of time to get to the airport and allow for potential bad road conditions on route.
