Former MEP turned I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star Nigel Farage has shared some insider info about the House of Lords, leaving his fellow campmates gobsmacked. In the latest episode, Nigel chatted about the differences between the US President and the UK Prime Minister, as reported in the Mirror.
Jockey Frankie Dettori seized the chance to quiz Nigel about his friendship with the divisive ex-President, Donald Trump. "Ask Trump to get Joe Exotic out [of prison]," Frankie urged. Joe Exotic, 60, is serving a 21-year sentence after being found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, among other charges.
Chatting about the differences between UK and US politics, Nigel said: "What out of prison? Amazing the power an American President has.
That pardon is a really powerful tool. He's pardoned a few people. All American Presidents do.
Our Prime Minister doesn't have any power like that at all." First Dates star Fred Sirieix chimed in: "They can bestow honours," to which Nigel replied: "Honours he can give, yeah." But Fred wasn't done yet, adding: "Being in the House of Lords, you get a paycheck every year." Nigel then said: "Well you don't, you get a cheque every day. You get £300 a day for turning up." After, Frankie joked that £300 would just about cover lunch for someone in the House of Lords. Nigel then shared: "I went to the House of Lords about two months ago, a guy I served with in the late 90s and early 00s in Brussels invited me to lunch.
