Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid clashed with an ITV viewer over Prince Harry's court case.
The veteran presenter was branded "pathetic" in a social media exchange after she defended the Duke of Sussex during a segment on the morning TV show. On Wednesday, 28 February, it was announced that a judge had ruled against Prince Harry, 39, in a case brought by him to the High Court over his personal security. He lost the case, in which he had challenged a ruling that was made in 2020, but reportedly plans to appeal the decision.
Before the ruling, there had been a discussion on ITV's GMB, which included Susanna, 53, and her co-host Richard Madeley, 67. Susanna spoke up for Prince Harry, saying: "He's always going to be at risk here. I don't understand why he doesn't still have the same level of security." She also said during the debate: "I don't think [the way he withdrew from the Royal Family or his actions] changes in any way the risk to him.
In fact, I think he's probably at more risk." The show's social media team shared a video of Susanna talking on its X account, formerly known as Twitter, and the presenter re-shared that post. Not everyone agreed with her views, and one person tweeted at Susanna: "Oh do shut it, Susanna. Are you after some kind of honour from the Palace and don't dare say anything bad! You are ridiculous! " Susanna shared this tweet as well.
The account holder, Angelica, then tweeted again: "And thanks for the repost Suzie.....you only did that for people to come to your defence. Pathetic. You make out you're not bothered by comments but that proves you are.
