Coronation Street fans have for a while been asking if an affair could be on the cards for two characters and tonight they feared it might already have started. Corrie viewers have seen Tim Metcalfe and Aggie Bailey grow closer for months as he's confided in her over his heart problems, marital difficulties and troubles in the bedroom with his wife Sally.
In Wednesday's episode (September 7) Tim was meant to play in the Rovers Return vs Flying Horse charity match. But as Dev Alahan gave a pre-match pep talk he thought he was making a dig at his impotence.
Accusing his friend Peter Barlow of betraying his confidence, he stormed out leaving Weatherfield County footballer James Bailey with no choice but to step in. As they set off Aggie spotted a glum Tim and invited him in for a brew.

As Tim opened up to nurse Aggie over a cuppa, the match kicked off. While the players gave it their all, Tim unburdened himself and the pair were last seen sniggering over Tim's double entendre about 'rising' as Aggie whipped up a cake.
Then there was horror at the match as suddenly James collapsed. His dad Ed rushed across the pitch frantically calling an ambulance as older brother Michael performed CPR.
Michael raced back to the street to get Aggie and as she arrived at the hospital she looked shifty as she was faced with questions about where she had been and why she didn't answer her phone. Aggie looked guilty as she was told her youngest son had been 'dead for five minutes.'
