ITV Coronation Street actress dies as daughter leads tributes

She's grown up in front of viewers' eyes but Ellie Leach is set to say goodbye to Coronation Street as Faye Windass leaves Weatherfield. The actress has spent more than 12 years in the ITV soap and has tackled many harrowing storylines including her character falling pregnant when she was 12.

Coronation Street fans could hardly believe what they were seeing on Friday’s instalment of the popular ITV soap, when mild mannered police office Craig Tinker unveiled a ruthless streak after discovering girlfriend Faye still had feelings for her ex. Tensions were already running high this week after Craig began to grow more suspicious of Faye as she spent time with ex, Jackson, the father of her daughter Miley.

ITV have announced a brand new Coronation Street Experience, offering fans access to replica sets, historic props and costumes from the long-running soap. The exciting new exhibition is set to open in just three weeks time, and will be open seven days a week, to provide the maximum opportunity for all fans to attend.

ITV's award winning soaps Emmerdale and Coronation Street have had their schedules thrown into chaos later this month.The long running soaps are being kicked out of their usual slots to make way for the live live semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent. Starting from Monday May 29 Emmerdale fans will get to watch the show at 7pm each weeknight with every episode lasting half an hour. Coronation Street will then air after Emmerdale for 30 minutes each weeknight instead of the usual 8pm slot on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

After it was reported last week that 21-year-old economics graduate Andre Furtado has been the first contestant cast, it looks as though another hopeful singleton has been revealed. It's believed actress Molly Marsh is in the final stages of speaking with Love Island bosses to be cast in the series 10 line-up for this summer.

Jackson (played by Joseph William Evans) has accepted a new job offer which means he will be relocating to Slough shortly, along with his and Faye's (Ellie Leach) daughter Miley Hodge (Frankei-Jae Simmonds). Jackon, whose feelings for Faye have began to develop again, asked Faye to join him and Miley in moving away from Weatherfield shortly after she accepted boyfriend Craig Tinker's (Colson Smith) proposal, leaving her torn between her ex and young daughter or her new fiancé.

Coronation Street and Bad Girls star Maria Charles has died at the age of 93, it has been announced.The actress found fame on the West End before going on to star in Agony as Bea Fisher, the mother of Maureen Lipman's character Jane Lucas. She made numerous appearances on the sitcom between 1979 and 1981, returning for its sequel, Agony Again, in 1995. She moved on to prison drama Bad Girls in 2002, where she played Noreen Briggs, before joining Coronation Street as Lina Thistlewood in 2005.
