Louis Walsh, a familiar face on our TV screens for over three decades, is well-known in Ireland and the UK. But despite his fame, not much is known about his private life. However, we might learn more about the 71 year old during his time in the Celebrity Big Brother house which kicked off on Monday, 4 March.
Joining the likes of good friend Sharon Osbourne, Lauren Simon and Gary Goldsmith, Louis is taking part in the first series of the iconic show since 2018, so there could be plenty of exciting moments to come. So, as Louis begins to settle into life in the famous house, let’s take a look at his life away from the cameras... We all may know him as Louis, but the former X Factor judge isn’t actually called Louis.
His real name is Michael Vincent Walsh, though he prefers to go by Louis. During his career, the TV personality has managed lots of famous pop acts after kick starting his career in the 1990s when he put together and managed Boyzone.
The Irish boyband, made up of Ronan Keating, the late Stephen Gately, Mikey Graham, Keith Duffy and Shane Lynch, secured six UK number ones and 20 UK top 40 singles during their time together. When Ronan Keating took a break from Boyzone to pursue his solo career, the singer continued to be managed by Louis and he went on to achieve a number one hit with Life is a Rollercoaster in 2000.
However, Ronan and Louis later parted ways. Elsewhere, Louis’ career has taken shape on our TV screens, with the star securing stints on shows including Popstars - the show that saw Girls Aloud rise to fame. But back in 2017 Louis caused a stir when Girls Aloud member Kimberley Walsh alleged that in 2004 the congratulated the group for “not being fat” anymore.
