Across the country, temperatures have reached mid-to-high 20s, with high pollen count and humidity adding to a sweltering start to June. While we slap the sun cream on and take precautions for ourselves, there may be one important belonging that we forget to protect in the hot weather.
Extreme temperatures can damage various pieces of technology - including your expensive smartphone.
Thankfully, Apple - the creators of the ever-popular iPhone - have issued a warning and some guidance for users when it comes to using their phone in high temperatures.
The company warned that exposing your iPhone to a heatwave could potentially "permanently shorten battery life".
Their guidance states: "Low - or high-temperature conditions might cause the device to change its behaviour.
"Using an iOS device in very hot conditions can permanently shorten battery life."
During a heatwave, iPhones can easily exceed their normal working temperature - which can be anything between 0C and 35C.
Temperatures outside of this range might cause your iPhone to change its behaviour in an attempt to regulate, and you may even get a pop-up warning.
Apple has noted that you should never do the following with your smartphone on a hot day:
People should also avoid putting iPhones in confined spaces such as under bed covers, in pockets or the glovebox of a car.
If you feel your iPhone really heating up to the point it is easily noticeable, you should stop using it - or even turn it off.
Applications that use a lot of power can also make the device heat up quickly, so it is best to ditch the mobile games on a hot day
