Friday Night Dinner star Tracy-Ann Oberman has penned a tribute to Paul Ritter, calling him a “close-up magician”.The actress, who starred in the Channel 4 sitcom alongside Ritter as Aunty Val, wrote for the Jewish Chronicle about the actor’s impact following his death earlier this month.“I am still in reeling at the passing of the wonderful actor and much adored colleague, Paul Ritter,” she began.

Simon Bird has written an emotional tribute to his late Friday Night Dinner co-star Paul Ritter.  Ritter died “peacefully at home” on Friday (2 April) aged 54 after being diagnosed with a brain tumour, his agent announced on Tuesday (6 April).

The one-off special, You Look Nice: The True Story of Friday Night Dinner, was announced earlier this year and will now be dedicated to Paul in his memory.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009); as the villainous power plant worker Anatoly Dyatlov in the chilling HBO/Sky miniseries Chernobyl (2019); and, from 2011 onwards, as the combustible, inexplicably shirtless Martin Goodman in Channel 4’s Friday Night Dinner (“lovely bit of squirrel,” moving fork to mouth) with Tamsin Greig. In all three roles he was never recognisable as whoever he really was.

Tamsin Greig has praised Paul Ritter's "enormous courage and effort" after he filmed a drama with her just a few weeks before he died. The 'Friday Night Dinner' actress has paid tribute to her late co-star - who died of a brain tumour this week, aged 54 - and admitted she was "honoured" that he was prepared to shoot a BBC Radio 4 adaptation of Anne Youngson’s novel 'Meet Me at the Museum' alongside her when he was "so ill".
