Excited Tom Lawrence says the Rangers squad sense Philippe Clement's 'special story' is in the works - but it will only have a happy ending if they keep the demands high.
Rangers have turned things 180 degrees since Clement's arrival with just one defeat in 26 games so far under the new boss. They have overhauled Celtic's advantage at the top of the league and, with a two point gap on their rivals now, they are marginal favourites to win the league.
That was unthinkable just a few months ago as the Michael Beale era fell apart before fans' eyes and Clement has them dreaming again. The refreshingly open boss is hoping to write a 'special story' this season with one trophy in the bag and his troops still competing on three fronts. And Lawrence says the players sense it's in the offing.
"Yes, 100 per cent (we sense it)," he said. "I think everyone can see that from outside, from inside, we're all together how it should be. We carry on going game by game and hopefully it takes us in the right direction. You're always going to get difficult parts of the season.
"From here to the end of the season there will be ups, there will be downs, but you've got to stay professional and drive those standards each day. If you watch us on the training pitch every day, we all demand our own standards no matter who it is.
"Whether it's your first day training with us or you've been here two or years you've got to demand those standards. You can't drop your standards because everyone will pick up on it, so everyone has to be at the top of their game in every training session. Look, it works when you're doing that and it gets taken into a game and it works for getting results."
