Former This Morning host Fern Britton and her TV chef ex husband Phil Vickery shocked fans everywhere when they announced their break up in January 2020. The couple - who met on the set of Ready Steady Cook in 1999 - shared the news of their split on their own respective social media accounts, and reflected on their two decades together.
Sixty six year old Fern – who has reportedly signed up for Celebrity Big Brother – said at the time: "After more than 20 happy years together, Phil and I have decided to go our separate ways. We will always share a great friendship and our lovely children.
We would appreciate it if our privacy is respected at this time.
Thankyou for your continued kindness and support." Fern, who shares a daughter with Phil, 22 year old Winnie, has been very candid about the split in the years since - including opening up about the emotional rollercoaster it's created. In 2022, she spoke to Prima Magazine, and described the separation as a "new chapter." Stressing that she didn't want to be the "poster girl for separation," Fern did admit that she wished she had persevered through the inevitable changing landscapes of a relationship, especially in terms of children leaving home.
"Often, the children leave home and you look at each other and go, 'Ah, where do we go from here?' she said, referencing Winnie flying the nest. Fern then revealed that she had moved out of her family home in Buckinghamshire and was living in Cornwall, which she labelled as calm and peaceful.
