An inquest has opened into the death of Tyson Fury's cousin Rico Burton. The 31-year-old was fatally stabbed outside a bar in the Goose Green area of Altrincham in the early hours of Sunday, August 21.
Coroner Adrian Farrow opened an inquest into the death of Mr Burton, a roofer who lived in Carrington, at Manchester South Coroner's Court today (Thursday). The coroner revealed that a post-mortem examination had given Mr Burton's provisional cause of death as a 'stab wound to the neck'.
Police coroner's officer Simon Toft confirmed the injury 'arose as a result of an incident in which Mr Burton sustained a single injury to his neck'. Mr Farrow adjourned the hearing until February 8 of next year when a review will take place to determine whether a full inquest will go ahead.

Liam O'Prey, 21, has appeared at Manchester Crown Court charged with Mr Burton's murder. He faces four counts relating to the same incident.
Mr O'Prey, of Little Moss Lane, Swinton, Salford, is also accused of unlawful wounding with intention to cause grievous bodily harm; possession of a bladed article; namely a knife; and possession of cocaine. He could go on trial at the beginning of next year.
He has been remanded into custody. A 17-year-old was also seriously wounded in the incident and was given 'life-saving' treatment at the scene, police said.
Tributes poured in for Mr Burton following his death, with the boxer's famous cousin Tyson Fury leading the way. The two-time world heavyweight champion, from Wythenshawe, also called for an end to knife crime in a post on his social media channels following his cousin's tragic death.
