A woman recalled 'putting on a brave face' after allegedly being raped by Benjamin Mendy at his home, a jury has heard. The trial of the Manchester City defender continued at Chester Crown Court today (August 24).
Mr Mendy, 28, has been charged with eight counts of rape against five women, one count of attempted rape and one count of sexual assault. The offences are alleged to have taken place on five different occasions at his Cheshire mansion between October 2018 and August last year, relating to seven women in total. Mr Mendy denies all the charges.
Today, jurors heard evidence from Woman Four who the French international is accused of raping during a gathering at his home in July 2021. The woman said her protests did not 'faze' Mr Mendy and 'it was like arguing with a brick wall'.

Eleanor Laws QC, defending Mr Mendy, asked the witness why she had not left the property immediately after the alleged rape.
Jurors were shown a picture which appeared to show Woman Four smiling alongside another woman, which the court heard was taken at the footballer's home shortly after the alleged incident.
Woman Four said she was ‘putting on a brave face’ at the time. “It was girls I did not know and boys who would have had his back in that situation,” she told the jury. "I was kind of alone.”
The witness was also asked about a visit she made to Mr Mendy's home three days before the alleged rape. Jurors heard that Woman Four had been to a gathering at Mr Mendy's Cheshire mansion after being invited by his co-defendant Louis Saha Matturie.
