A dad from Salford has revealed what it’s like to compete on a hit Netflix game show. Anthony Taylor was player number 039 on Squid Game: The Challenge.
While he didn't get much screen time, the moment he was eliminated was captured during episode two when he failed the ‘Dalgona’ trial. During the test, players were tasked with carving out a particular shape from a thin cookie without breaking the treat.
Contestants had just ten minutes on the clock and while he fell short, Anthony described his time on the show as one of the ‘best experiences' he has ever had.

Speaking on his exit in the cookie carving challenge, he said: “I Just panicked. I had a good start and I managed to get part of it off, but I wasn’t looking at the clock. I was only two minutes in when I smashed my cookie and I thought ‘oh no!’"
Anthony applied for a spot last year, after a friend suggested he do so. The 39-year-old from Little Hulton already has game show experience after appearing on Total Wipeout back in 2010.
Speaking to the MEN, he detailed the stringent application process that saw him go through multiple interviews, a psychological evaluation - and a criminal record check, with his social media accounts being heavily monitored.
“It was crazy, they went so in depth it was insane," he said.
“You had to fill out an application and send a one minute video of yourself, and then from there you get another phone call, and then you had a series of other phone calls
