The cost of family meals has been shooting up and with the summer holidays upon us, many parents are feeling the pinch more than ever.
With kids it can sometimes be tricky finding things they'll actually eat, let alone something the whole family will enjoy and nobody needs to be chucking food away right now.
In my house, there are certain failsafe dishes I know will get lapped up by the four of us - meaning my time, and most importantly my money, isn't going to waste.

This week I set out to buy the ingredients for all five meals from Aldi, whose website inspired a couple of the dishes, to see exactly how they priced up - and my bill came in at a rather impressive £31.17.
There were some ingredients left over, so you're looking at a £30 spend overall for the five dishes. And while we all know how much food prices have rocketed, it's less than a fiver's difference to what I was paying for the same ingredients this time last year.
The only extras you need are salt, pepper and a bit of oil, which most of us have in the cupboard, and a sauce of your choice to have with the sausage tray bake if you wish.
They're not particularly elaborate meals, three of them have just four ingredients, but as a busy mum who works full-time I like to keep it as simple as possible in the kitchen.
The easiest by far is the pasta dish, which I admit we have a little too often, but it's always a winner. It's nice with smoked salmon too, but with only two out of four of us liking salmon, it's often not worth the added cost of at least £3 a pack.
