BreAnna Bell Hulu announced its forthcoming “Mastermind” docuseries based on the life of nurse and longtime FBI consultant Dr. Ann Burgess on Friday. Hailing from Campfire Studios in association with Dakota and Elle Fanning’s Lewellen Pictures, the four part documentary tells the harrowing stories of infamous criminal cases through the unique lens of the woman who helped solve them – Burgess, who spent her nearly six-decade career hunting serial killers and advocating for justice, reads the official logline. Burgess is the visionary member of the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit who revolutionized the way law enforcement investigates serial killers. As the architect of the FBI’s “mindhunter” method, Dr. Burgess (made famous by the fictionalized Wendy Carr of David Fincher’s “Mindhunter”) spent her career interviewing and studying convicted serial killers, gleaning insight to apply to unsolved cases. Based in part on Dr. Burgess’ 2021 book “A Killer by Design: Murders, Mindhunters, and My Quest to Decipher Criminal Minds,” the series will feature exclusive access to her personal records as viewers dive into her most defining cases and the anti-rape movement, which laid the foundation for the modern #MeToo global social reckoning.

Dinerstein, Elle Fanning, Dakota Fanning, Rebecca Halpern, Lesley Chilcott, Rebecca Evans and Abby Fuller are executive producers. cheated on his longtime girlfriend, Ariana Madix, 37, with her ex-best friend, Raquel Leviss, 28. But some hardcore “Vanderpump Rules” fans are skeptical about whether the whole thing is authentic. “They needed something to get shaken up, to get people’s interest back,” podcaster Lara Schoenhals told Insider, adding that it’s “suspicious” that this happened when viewership of the show was on the decline. Hollie Bohorquez, host of the “Vanderpump Rules Party” podcast, told the outlet, “I personally feel like they were mapping this out.” As evidence, she noted the oddity of cast members giving podcast interviews teasing “explosive” developments ahead. She also uncovered a filming permit in front of a cast member’s building after the season had already wrapped.“So before Scandoval even broke, they had the filming permits in place to record with when cameras went back,” she said. Bravo has previously stated that the season has not been re-edited to reflect the discovery of the affair. Sarah Cee, co-host of “Vanderpump Rules Party” podcast, said that the show’s producers “had to have known or had very strong inklings,” because the affair seems like too seamless of a ready-made subplot in the season.
A different version of the story? Katie Maloney saw Tom Sandoval‘s bombshell interview about his split from Ariana Madix amid an affair with Raquel Leviss — and she has some questions.

Owen Gleiberman Chief Film Critic Watching a police-procedural homicide drama, whether it’s the grungiest of VOD potboilers or the most visionary film of the genre, Michael Mann’s silvery, dread-drenched “Manhunter,” we more or less know one thing: At the end of two hours, the grisly mystery we’ve been dunked in will have its catharsis and its resolution. We will know who the killer is, and in knowing that a kind of order will have been restored. David Fincher’s “Zodiac,” with its tantalizing ambiguities, might stand as an exception to the form — a singular winding creep-out, without the closure we’re thirsting for — yet even there you feel, by the end, that you’ve glimpsed the face of evil. But “The Night of the 12th,” the French thriller that was nominated for 10 César Awards and won six of them, including best picture (it opens here on May 19), throws the audience a slow-motion curveball that’s intended to tinker with our dreams. And to a degree, it does. Based on a true-crime book by Pauline Guéna, the movie turns into one of the most casually authentic of investigative murder mysteries. Each time we think we’re seeing a classic suspense arc, it unravels into a dead end, and we think to ourselves: Of course. Crime in real life doesn’t necessarily happen so neatly. “The Night of the 12th” is a mostly compelling sit, though what lends the film its singular texture is that it keeps tricking us into thinking it’s a more conventional thriller than it is.
