True-crime podcasts are a dime a dozen nowadays. There are just so many armchair detectives out there, thinking they can do the work of professionals.

Sophia Scorziello editor CrimeCon has opened submissions for its second annual Clue Awards, which single out true crime storytelling across television, documentary film, podcasts and publishing. “The response we received to the inaugural Clue Awards was overwhelmingly positive and incredibly encouraging,” said Kevin Balfe, CrimeCon founder and executive producer. “These awards were designed to honor creators who, responsibly and poignantly, highlight stories of justice, tragedy and advocacy. In recognizing and amplifying these powerful projects, we hope Clue can be a positive force in the true crime space.” The Clue Awards honor work in the following categories:

J. Kim Murphy Investigation Discovery has partnered with Michael Bay, with the filmmaker slated to executive produce a new true crime documentary series for the network. Kathleen Finch, chairman and chief content officer for the U.S. Networks Group at Warner Bros. Discovery, made the announcement Wednesday morning during the company’s Upfront presentation. The series is set to premiere in 2024 and will “expose a terrifying, yet little known, true crime story.” “When Michael Bay first approached us to collaborate on a true crime project, we instantly knew we wanted to join forces,” Jason Sarlanis, president of crime and investigative content for linear and streaming at ID, said in a statement. “Michael Bay is an incredibly dynamic filmmaker and producer whose vision and storytelling appeals to audiences far and wide. This partnership will be the perfect addition to our blockbuster nights on ID.”

Sydney Sweeney is making the most of her on-set experiences — especially when it comes to shooting her recent rom-com,  opposite Glen Powell.Sweeney walked the carpet at the New York City premiere of her new biopic, , and she spoke with ET's Rachel Smith about both her politically charged drama and the fun she had filming her forthcoming romantic comedy.«It was such a blast!» Sweeney said of her time on the set of. «I mean, Australia was such a beautiful place to film, and the cast and crew were so much fun.»«I've never laughed so much on a set before,» she added.

The first glimpse at Kaley Cuoco’s latest series, “Based on a True Story”, has dropped.

Kaley Cuoco has her sights set on solving a murder.In Peacock's dark comedic thriller, Cuoco plays Ava, who dreams up the idea to start a true-crime podcast when a serial killer «that's basically in [her] backyard» begins to garner national attention. It's the perfect answer to the financial problems she and her beau, Nathan (Chris Messina), are facing as he recently lost his job, they're expecting a baby and they're very, very behind on bills.When another murder takes place literally in front of their very eyes, it's almost as if the universe is giving them a nudge.

McKinley Franklin editor Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina are obsessed with all things murder in the first official trailer for Peacock’s original series “Based On A True Story.” “Based On A True Story” spoofs the culture’s fascination with true crime, spinning a dark comedic thriller about a realtor, a former tennis star and a plumber as they capitalize on murders in their area. Peacock released the first look at the new series during NBCUniversal’s Upfront presentation at Radio City Music Hall on Monday morning. “I became fascinated with the idea of a relatable married couple whose youthful dreams hadn’t come to fruition and who saw the true crime tidal wave as an opportunity to change their lives and save their marriage,” said series creator Craig Rosenberg has stated. “Our Los Angeles setting – the city where everybody wants to be famous – became a vivid backdrop to our story of fame, ambition, aspiration and murder.”

The series finales for “Riverdale” and “Nancy Drew” will air back-to-back as part of The CW’s summer slate.After the fourth and final season of drama series “Nancy Drew” launches Wednesday, May 31 at 8 p.m.

Oxygen is announcing a bunch of true crime television series!

Kelly Siegler, star of Oxygen’s Cold Justice, has a new series for the NBCUniversal cable network as it unveils its latest slate of true-crime series.

Of the new programs, “Texas Justice with Kelly Siegler,” “The Pike County Murders,” “Real Murders of Los Angeles,” “Fatal Family Feuds” and “Sin City Murders” will be making their debut on Oxygen later this year. In addition, “Cold Justice,” “Final Moments” and “Homicide for the Holidays” have received further season orders.  “Texas Justice with Kelly Siegler” will spotlight the former prosecutor as she looks into the most disturbing murders in her home state, premiering this fall.

(Montgomery pleaded self-defense and was acquitted of murder.) Pelphrey plays Don Crowder, a friend of Candy’s who becomes her defense attorney, despite never having tried a criminal case.
