If you're planning a holiday in 2024, knowing what luggage you can take can be confusing.
That's because each airline has its own rules when it comes to cabin bags, including size limits and costs. Ryanair, Jet2, easyJet, TUI and other airlines all have specific rules for cabin bags - and some of them have changed this year. If you don't follow these rules, you might end up having to pay extra charges at the airport, reports Birmingham Live.
So, it's really important to check the rules for your booking before you fly. We've put together all the key information you'll need on the cabin bag rules for each major airline below. Ryanair For Ryanair, anyone who books a flight is automatically allowed to bring a small personal bag with them on board for free.
This could be a handbag or backpack but it must fit under the seat in front of you and measure no more than 40 x 20 x 25cm.
You can get a Ryanair Airlines Underseat Cabin Bag from Amazon for just £12.99. If you're planning to fly with Ryanair and want to bring a larger cabin bag, you'll need to pay extra for Priority Booking. This usually costs between £6 and £38, and it's cheaper if you book it when you buy your ticket rather than at the airport.
Your cabin bag can't be bigger than 55 x 40 x 20cm, must weigh less than 10kg, and needs to fit in the overhead locker. A great option is the Clifton Cabin Bag by luxury suitcase brand Antler, which is currently £136, reduced from £170. Remember to check the weight and size of your cabin bag before you head to the airport because Ryanair charges a gate bag fee for carry-on luggage that's too big or heavy.
