The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) will be paying out £300 to millions of people throughout the first half of November.
While the second Cost of Living Payment will continue to be paid out until November 19, the government highlighted that only certain people claiming means-tested benefits will be eligible for the payment, and even then there are certain criteria that must be met. This may raise concerns for carers who may need extra financial support but are not sure of their eligibility status.
Millions of DWP benefit claimants have already received their £300 payment since the start of November, while those who exclusively claim benefits from HMRC will have begun receiving their payment today (November 10). Before a carer checks their eligibility for the second Cost of Living Payment, it's important to clarify what specific benefits qualify.

If you are a carer, you may be receiving £76.75 a week in Carer's Allowance payments. This payment is given to those who care for someone at least 35 hours a week while they receive certain benefits such as Personal Independence Payment or Disability Living Allowance.
While Carer's Allowance is a benefit payment issued by the DWP, on its own it does not automatically qualify a carer for the Cost of Living Payment because it is not a low-income means-tested benefit.
However, this doesn't mean carers are completely excluded from the Cost of Living
