Hundreds of thousands of HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) claimants will begin receiving the £300 Cost of Living Payment from today (November 10).
While those claiming means-tested benefits from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) have already begun receiving their Cost of Living payment since November 1, those exclusively getting payments from HMRC have had to wait until today. Despite this, the same deadline of November 19 has been attributed to both government department payments.
However, not all claimants will be eligible for the second round of Cost of Living Payments. This is because very specific criteria have been laid out for those who will be considered automatically eligible for the payment.

In order to be eligible for the £300 Cost of Living Payment from HMRC, you must be receiving a qualifying Tax Credit. According to the government, this includes Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit.
Even if you do claim on of these Tax Credits, to receive the Cost of Living Payment, you must have received a payment or been entitled to a payment for a qualifying Tax Credit during the qualifying period between August 18, 2023 and September 17, 2023.
If you believe you are eligible for the payment but do not receive it today, don't rush to contact HMRC as you may get the payment until November 19. HMRC may have already sent you a text message confirming today's payment date.
However, HMRC stressed: "The text message will say the £300 Cost of Living Payment will be paid automatically between 10 November to 19 November 2023." It added: "Receiving the text
