DWP issues two-week application warning over £300 cost of living payment due this winter

The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) has issued a warning to people who could be eligible for a £300 cost of living payment due this winter.
The DWP is handing out five separate payments to vulnerable people over this year and next to support them through the cost of living crisis. They include three payments worth £900 in total to people on means-tested benefits, a £150 payment to people on disability benefits and a £300 payment to pensioners.
People who may be eligible for the £300 pensioner payment are now being warned that the have just two weeks left to apply for Pension Credit to ensure they get the extra cash. Pension Credit is for people who are over State Pension age and on a low income.

In a warning on social media, the DWP said: "Pension Credit tops up pension income and can help with day-to-day living costs Apply by 10 Dec and, if eligible, you could also get an extra £300 Cost Of Living Payment. Don’t miss out."
If you are eligible for Pension Credit your weekly income will be topped up to to £201.05 if you’re single or £306.85 if you have a partner, but you may get extra amounts if you have other responsibilities and costs.
In addition to this, you will get the £300 cash boost for pensioners, which is added to your Winter Fuel Payment. The Winter Fuel Payment is for anyone born before 25 September 1957. People on Pension Credit do not need to apply for theirs as it is sent automatically.
The DWP confirmed earlier this week that it had now started sending the payments out to eligible people. All payments should be made to pensioners by January 26, 2024.
