The 45-year-old says she was diagnosed as perimenopausal in 2021. The diagnosis came after she struggled for eight months with lack of sleep and other symptoms related to the issue, the transitional period before menopause, reports OK! magazine.
Best known for playing sassy Cindy Cunningham on the Channel 4 soap, the mum of two children - Mia, 17, and 12-year-old Lexi - with former partner Dan Hooper, has revealed her struggles in an interview.

She told The Sun: “I was crying all the time. I came home one day and my partner was out and my kids were with their dad.
“I just remember being on the bathroom floor screaming and begging someone to help me. The doctors were saying they couldn't do anything at that point and I couldn't cope anymore.”
Stephanie, from Urmston, first began having symptoms when she met her current partner Tom Brookes in December 2020. The pair have been engaged since 2021 after a whirlwind romance.
“It should’ve been a really happy time but I was going into the other bedroom at night because I couldn’t sleep.”
Stephanie was given the Mirena coil to ease her symptoms. Many women suffer from anxiety, mood swings, brain fog, hot flushes and irregular periods.
The NHS says: "Menopause and perimenopause can cause symptoms like anxiety, mood swings, brain fog, hot flushes and irregular periods. These symptoms can start years before your periods stop and carry on afterwards.
