It’s official, we’re now in a ‘Droughtlander’ until 2024.
With the release of the mid-season finale for season seven overnight, there brings a bittersweet taste to the mouth of any dedicated fan of the hit Starz show set and filmed in Scotland.
Part one of the new series is now over, with fans hailing episode eight ‘Turning Points’ amazing and the “best yet”.
To build extra anticipation, there was an extra week to wait between episodes seven and eight in order to put the impending drought off for just a little longer, much to the delight of fans.
But it was a bittersweet move as now that the final episode has finally been screened, now starts the Long wait until next year when the second half of season seven will be aired.
The first half of the season ended with Jamie, Claire and Ian on a British ship home. They’d been asked to bring Jamie’s cousin Simon’s body back to Scotland by General Gates, and the midseason finale ended with them spotting the coast of Scotland in the distance and smiling with relief. Fans loved it and took to Twitter to express their delight - tinged with sadness.
