Holly Willoughby has devised a plan to get back into This Morning viewer's good graces following Phillip Schofield's explosive exit from the show.
The 42-year-old has been on an extended summer break following the Phillip Schofield scandal and his admission to an affair with a much younger male colleague. ITV bosses were in crisis mode earlier this year trying to handle the bombshell news, and This Morning's main star Holly faced backlash from viewers.
It's been reported that Holly felt she was 'snubbed' by viewers after failing to receive an NTA nomination for Best Presenter. Meanwhile, her co-star Alison Hammond made the shortlist and will battle it out against Ant and Dec, Claudia Winkleman, Bradley Walsh and Martin Lewis.
Following on from the Schofield drama and NTA snub, Holly has come up with a plan to bond alongside her co-stars Alison, Craig Doyle and Josie Gibson to reclaim her fanbase. An insider told Heat Magazine: “Holly’s trying to stay positive and put a brave face on everything, but this has really hurt her.”
They continued: “She’s worked really hard to maintain her position in the top spot on the top show, and being ignored by the NTAs feels like such a huge snub. She was hoping everything would calm down after Phil quit, and she’s been so determined not to let anything get to her or push her out, but the fact that viewers haven’t nominated her in the Best Presenter category makes it feel as though she’s fighting a losing battle, with no support from fans who used to adore her.”
Holly will be joined on This Morning alongside fan-favourite host Alison and Craig for two days a week each, while Josie Gibson will work as the main relief presenter. Holly and Alison are 'determined' to make their pairing a success
