Essex police said a 36-year-old man was arrested at a flat in Harlow on Wednesday evening on suspicion of conspiracy to kidnap.
Superintendent Tim Tubbs, of Essex Police, said: “This was an extremely fast paced investigation, with many of our officers and national partners working overnight to secure these charges. The safeguarding of any victim is paramount and we will continue to prioritise this as the investigation proceeds.”
Plumb appeared on the BBC for a weight-loss feature in 2018 and wrote about drinking an average of 36-pints of coke a week and bingeing on junk food, and tipping the scales at 35 stone at his heaviest.
Plumb, who was arrested and charged today, says on his Linkedin profile he worked at Pizza Hut for a year until 2012 as a kitchen assistant, but had to quit because he could no longer leave his flat and didn't step foot outside for four years from 2014.
