Holly Willoughby has been placed on 'indefinite leave' from This Morning following an alleged murder and kidnap plot.
Craig Doyle and Josie Gibson have stepped up to fill in for Holly following an alleged kidnap and murder plot targeting the star. On Friday, security guard Gavin Plumb was charged with soliciting a US hitman to commit murder, and incitement to commit kidnap.
This Morning bosses were alerted by police of the alleged plot early on Thursday morning. Holly was then told shortly before she was due on air, reportedly leaving her "shocked and distraught" as she was forced to pull out of presenting the programme at the last minute.
It's thought that Holly is unlikely to return this month, as her co-stars are prepared to step up and present the show in her absence. A source told The Mirror,: "Holly has been left distraught by the news. This has been an absolutely horrible week for her.
"At the moment she really is getting through things hour by hour. Her absolute priority is her own safety and that of her family - who are supporting her through this incredibly difficult time.
"There has been no discussion about when, or if, she will return to the This Morning sofa. No decisions have been made about that. But given the terrifying things she has learned this week, the question of returning to work could not be further from her mind."
On Friday, Chelmsford magistrates heard that security guard Plumb, 36, from Harlow, Essex, had compiled a “restrain kit” as part of an alleged plan to get Holly.
It was alleged that Plumb was possessed “weapons” and had contacted a hitman based in America to carry out the “detailed plan”.
