Hero workmen step in after elderly woman mugged

Two heroic workmen helped detain a suspected robber after a pensioner was mugged, police have revealed. Investigating officers now want to speak to the men as enquiries continue.
A 35 year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of robbery and is currently in police custody for questioning after the incident in Droylsden, Tameside, early on Thursday morning.
Police in Tameside said it's believed the men stopped in a works van after witnessing the mugging and went on to help detain a man.

Details were shared by GMP on its Tameside South & West Facebook page.
Officers were called to Fairfield Road in Droylsden at 7.15am on Thursday. The pensioner's condition, or whether she was injured, hasn't been revealed. No age has been released either.
The GMP post read: "Police are appealing for two witnesses to come forward who bravely helped detain a man following the robbery of an elderly female in Droylsden
"Police were called to Fairfield Road in the town at approximately 7.15am this morning, Thursday 14 September 2023.
"A 35-year-old man was detained by two male witnesses, who it is believed, had stopped in a works van after seeing the crime occur. The man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of robbery and is currently in custody for questioning.
