He then won the nation's hearts on Pop Idol, coming third in the first series won by Will Young in 2002.
Darius was rumoured to be appearing on a reunion show alongside fellow alumni Young, 43, and Gareth Gates, 38, who was runner-up. He had reportedly been expected to return the UK in just a few weeks' time for the special, marking the 20th anniversary of the show. Now, a police dispatch call obtained by The Sun reveals the moment Darius was found in his US apartment.The publication reported that a "medical" team was requested for a “possible deceased” person in a call at 11.53am.
According to The Sun, another call came through minutes later, with an operator heard to say: "No need for them to respond. We'll be waiting for RPD [Rochester Police Department] to arrive on the scene. We'll secure the residence." After Pop Idol, Darius recorded two albums, Dive In and Live twice, which both reached the top 40 in the UK charts.
