Pop Idol star Darius Campbell Danesh went “off-grid” shortly before his death and had lost touch with some of his close friends, according to reports. The singer and stage performer, 41, was found unresponsive in an apartment in Rochester, Minnesota on 11 August, with his family confirming the tragic news of his death a few days later. An investigation into the performer’s death is still ongoing, but it’s reported that some of his friends struggled to contact him before he died.
A source said: "Someone got in touch with me to say, ''Can you try to contact Darius? He's gone off-grid and I'm worried.'' The source said that the behaviour was “unusual” for the singer, who took close to two weeks to respond to the message. "When he did get back, the reply was to say 'thanks for getting in touch, love you and apologies for the tardy response'. "It was very odd," they told The Sun.
They continued: "It was like I was speaking to a stranger. I spoke to him afterwards but he seemed like he may have been a bit lost." The performer’s tragic death was announced by his family on Tuesday, who said in a statement that local police had confirmed there were "no signs of intent or suspicious circumstances". "The cause of his sudden death is unknown at this stage while medical examinations continue", the family added.
According to MailOnline , police are awaiting toxicology results which could take up to two months, as part of the investigation into Darius' death. The publication reported that the apartment where Darius was found is located opposite the Mayo Clinic specialist treatment centre , but it is unclear whether he was being treated there. The property his body was found in is near the Mayo Clinic’s famous 1,265-bed Saint Marys
