Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have built a playground for children in Uvalde, Texas, four months on from the harrowing mass shooting that shook the globe. In May 2022, a gunman opened fire in a school and claimed the lives of 21 victims, before turning the gun on himself. Soon after the devastating ordeal, mum-of-two Meghan made a low-key trip to the Texan city where she paid her respects to the deceased.
Now Meghan, 41, and husband Prince Harry, 38, have continued to show their solidarity for the Uvalde community by building a new children’s park there through their Archewell Foundation, which has been named The DeLeon Park. According to royal journalist and writer Omid Scobie, Archewell director James Holt said of the project: “Our hope is that this special project can help the community heal, and be home to imagination, games and play for many years to come.” At the time of her visit to the primary school the shooting occurred at, Meghan cut a casual figure in a pair of jeans, t-shirt, trainers and cap. The news of the park’s erection comes as Meghan’s most recent bombshell interview was published in Variety – just a month on from Her Majesty the Queen’s funeral. Speaking on how the Royal Family are coping, Meghan said: “In big moments in life, you get a lot of perspective. “It makes you wonder what you want to focus your energy on.
Right now, we feel energized and excited about all of the things we’ve been building toward. “We’re also focused on our foundation. So much of the work we do includes the philanthropic space.” Meghan also addressed the public reaction to the Queen’s death, as she described the “outpouring of love
