Border officers in Texas found more than $402,000 worth of liquid methamphetamine held in condoms that were hidden inside pumpkins during a vehicle inspection, authorities said.  The seizure was discovered Tuesday at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry and was among Halloween decorations inside a vehicle, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said.  Border officers in Texas said they seized discovered 44 pounds of liquid methamphetamine in condoms hidden inside pumpkins.

California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom's reelection campaign put up a billboard in Austin, Texas, promoting his state's abortion access for women. A San Antonio teenager's grandmother turned him in to police after discovering he allegedly shot his sister's boyfriend while on drugs. Officials found the victim with a gunshot wound in his right thigh at around 6 a.m. on Sunday morning, according to FOX 29 San Antonio.The victim, who was found in his apartment, was sent to a local hospital.

The Uvalde school district has suspended its entire campus police department following the fallout from the horrific shooting at Robb Elementary School in Texas that killed 19 children and two teachers in May.

Two caretakers at a Texas nursing home are faced charges this week after video surveillance footage allegedly showed them injuring an 87-year-old man in his room. Solidago Health and Rehabilitation caretakers Lisa Cooper, 61, and Keycia Johnson, 57, turned themselves into Texas City police Thursday pending an investigation into the assault.  Both women were charged with injuring an elderly person, a second-degree felony. The Texas City nursing home said the women were immediately suspended and have since been fired.

Texas' Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District announced Friday it is suspending its entire police department. The Uvalde district this week fired a newly hired former Texas state trooper who was on scene of the Robb Elementary School massacre in May.  Officer Crimson Elizondo was hired despite being part of the law enforcement response that waited more than an hour to confront the gunman at the Uvalde school.

The White House is slamming congressional Republicans, accusing them of working to "defund the police," "defund the FBI" and choosing the "gun lobby over the fight against gun crime" by opposing assault weapons ban legislation backed by President Biden and Democrats. A former Texas State Trooper who responded to the Robb Elementary School shooting on May 24th and was recently hired by the Uvalde school district was fired from her new job on Thursday, officials announced.  "We are deeply distressed by the information that was disclosed yesterday evening concerning one of our recently hired employees, Crimson Elizondo," the Uvalde school district said in a statement.  "We sincerely apologize to the victim’s families and the greater Uvalde community for the pain that this revelation has caused."
