Greg Rutherford, the retired Olympian who was a favourite to win Dancing On Ice, has shared a video of the moment he suffered a serious injury during rehearsals. The accident forced him to withdraw from the ITV competition as he needed stitches.
In the video, 37-year-old Greg is seen diving through a professional skater's legs and says this is when things went wrong. He wrote alongside the video: "Here we gooooo. This is the showcase we didn't get the perform due to injury.
"The point where I dive through Colin and Brendyn's legs is where everything went wrong last Sunday. This is from either Friday or Saturday so I was still ironing out a few timings issues (which I'm sure you will notice)."
Greg also expressed his love for the showcase, praising everyone involved and the set builders.
He said: "I utterly loved this showcase. Everyone involved had worked so hard. Just look at the set too! The guys behind the scenes never get enough credit, what they build in such a short amount of time is mind blowing. To have @torvilanddeanofficial choreograph a full routine for us too was so special. I loved working with them."
He also mentioned how special it was to have a routine choreographed by @torvilanddeanofficial, reports the Mirror.
Despite his injury, Greg plans to return to the ice once he's healed. He added: "Although I won't be able to skate for maybe a couple of months. I intend on getting back on the ice and keeping it up. I really do love it."
Although the cause of his injury is still a mystery, he enlightened us that his stomach is "not in a good way."
Pottering around his kitchen while donning his dressing gown, he divulged: "Good morning everyone. Just thought I'd give you a little update. I'm moving around a little bit
