The percentage of people testing positive for Covid-19 decreased in England, Wales, and Scotland, although rates remain high. Infections decreased in all English regions and age groups, except for in the North East, where the trend was uncertain in the latest week of figures available from the Office of National Statistics (ONS), ending July 20, 2022.
Overall hospital admission rates decreased in six out of nine regions in the week ending July 24, 2022. However, there is a delay between a person becoming infected with Covid-19 and being admitted to hospital or dying, so there are expected changes in overall hospital admissions to be observed later than changes to infection rates.
Coronavirus infection rates have fallen in all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester. Salford continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester.
