Good Morning Britain has expressed gratitude to its viewers as it marks a decade on air. The ITV breakfast show celebrated the milestone by posting a video on Instagram featuring presenters Susanna Reid, Charlotte Hawkins and weather presenter Laura Tobin reacting to a clip from the first episode.
The inaugural episode, which aired on April 28 2014, saw Reid opening the show alongside Hawkins, Ben Shephard and Sean Fletcher. The day's agenda included news of George Clooney's engagement to Amal Alamuddin and an interview with Britain's largest family about their upcoming addition.
Reflecting on the launch, Reid confessed she was "absolutely petrified". She said: "It was so nerve-wracking, we knew we had this massive responsibility. Hawkins chimed in: "I think the thing was you knew all eyes were going to be on you because it was all down to us."
Accompanying the video on the GMB Instagram account, the show wrote: "Thank you for spending the last 10 years with us! " The morning programme, which has broadcast over 2,500 episodes since its inception, will continue its anniversary celebrations on Monday's show.
Over the years, the show has been nominated for Baftas for news coverage for its exclusive interview with Thomas Markle and a special report on knife crime. It has also won a special award at the Television and Radio Industries Club (Tric) Awards.
Reid has scooped up presenting accolades at the Royal Television Society (RTS) and Tric awards. Discussing her standout moments on the show, Reid highlighted the first day as particularly memorable due to the "a lot of pressure" she felt.
She shared a moment when Shephard offered words of encouragement just before they went live, advising her to "enjoy every second" of the debut
