Gang smashes flat windows before 'loud bang' heard

A 'loud bang' was reported as a gang smashed windows at a flat in Middleton. Officers were called to reports of the incident at The Meadows on the Alkrington estate at about 9.15pm last night (Friday).
Several house windows had been smashed by a group of people. People living nearby also reported hearing a ‘loud bang’, which officers say they are investigating.
Images taken at the scene on Saturday morning scene showed a police cordon in place outside a block of flats. One property appeared to have several broken windows.

Forensic officers could be seen taking photographs of the damage to the property while several police vehicles were parked up nearby. No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Round, of Greater Manchester Police's Rochdale District, said: “We understand residents of the local community may be concerned to hear about an incident of this nature. I want to provide reassurance that officers remain in the area and are there to offer any support to those who need it.
“At this moment, we are working to trace those responsible. I would encourage anyone who believes they have information that could help us to contact 101 quoting log 3659 of Friday 21st July 2023. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers to report anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
