Jesse Lingard has reportedly cut all ties with his former agents with the Manchester United academy graduate yet to find a new club after being released by Nottingham Forest last summer.
Lingard has not played in nine months, his last appearance coming in the form of a two-minute cameo in Forest’s 2-0 defeat to United last April. In fact, the 31-year-old only played a total of 86 minutes in the whole of 2023 due to injury and ill-form.
Several clubs had been linked with a move for Lingard this summer but the midfielder failed to reach an agreement with any interested party. Now, Sky Sports says it has learned that the player has terminated his association with his former representatives.

It adds that money was not a driver in the decision but that Lingard is ‘desperate’ to get back playing again and is actively seeking employment after being frustrated with repeated failed negotiations with clubs.
Earlier this week, Paul Scholes commented on one of Lingard’s social media posts, delivering an x-rated dig about his lack of a club. Lingard played 232 times for United, scoring 35 goals - one of which was the extra time winner in the 2016 FA Cup final.
He left at the end of his contract in 2022 amid limited game time under former interim boss Ralf Rangnick. The Standard says that West Ham are not interested in a return deal for the playmaker, who featured for the Hammers in a short loan spell between January and May 2021. However, talkSPORT reports that Everton may potentially look to offer him a lifeline.
