The mother of a 12-year-old boy who died after being struck by a car on the M62 has paid tribute to him saying he was a 'beautiful, happy soul.' It comes as a man has been charged in connection with his death. A man from Greater Manchester arrested following the incident has been released on bail.
Callum Rycroft, from Leeds, was struck by a Toyota C-HR on the eastbound carriageway of the M62, between junctions 25 and 26 in West Yorkshire, at around 9.50pm on Saturday night (August 5).
Matthew Rycroft, 36, of Nowell View, Leeds has been charged with causing/allowing the death of a child and failing to provide a specimen. He is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court tomorrow (Tuesday).

In a tribute issued through West Yorkshire Police (WYP) this evening, Callum's mother said: "Callum was a beautiful happy soul who was unique, great fun and larger than life. He brought light, laughter and noise into any room.
“Callum had a massive impact on everyone who met him. The house is so quiet without him here.
“We are devastated at what has happened and request that people respect our wish for privacy at this difficult time. We are very grateful for the support and kind comments we have received.”
WYP say their enquires into the incident are ongoing. They say it is believed that 'Callum had been walking on the motorway with a man after an earlier collision involving an Audi Q5 on the slip road to Hartshead Moor services.' 'No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in that collision' they said.
A 47-year-old man, said to be from the Bolton area, who is believed to be the driver of the Toyota, was earlier today arrested on
