FCO updates travel advice as Covid rules change in Madeira

Holidaymakers will no longer have to wear face masks on public transport in Madeira as Portugal eases its coronavirus restrictions further. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office updated its advice on August 3.
According to the FCDO’s advice, face masks still need to be worn by everyone aged six and over when entering medical facilities and other services, including pharmacies. They must also be worn up to the 10th day since the onset of symptoms or a positive test result.
Face coverings still need to be worn on public transport in mainland Portugal, as well as on entry to medical facilities, in taxis and private hires and when travelling by air. This applies to children aged nine and under.

Certain restrictions remain in place in The Azores, where masks are still required for everyone aged nine and over on public transport, in medical facilities and in taxis and private hires. Proof of a negative Covid test is also required to enter medical facilities in The Azores.
There are no longer any entry requirements in place for travellers arriving in mainland Portugal, Madeira and the Azores. However, those who test positive for Covid-19 will need to self-isolate.
In mainland Portugal you’ll have to self-isolate for at least seven days at your own expense. Those who are in Madeira, Porto Santo or The Azores will need to self-isolate for five days.
