Barcelona president Joan Laporta has issued a fresh update on Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong's future in Spain.
United have been embroiled in a long-running transfer saga as they bid to bring De Jong to Old Trafford, with a deal in principle having been agreed last month. However, no further breakthrough has since been made.
Senior sources at United have claimed that wages owed to De Jong are proving a major sticking point at present. Meanwhile, the 25-year-old has been dropped into a centre-back role during pre-season.

Despite pressure on Barca to get new signings Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha registered by the opening game of the season, Laporta is adamant that De Jong will remain at the Catalan club. "Frenkie is a Barca player," Laporta said (via talkSPORT ).
"We want him to stay, he wants to stay. We’ve received important bids for him but he’s our player.
"You know salary budget situation; so we will do our best to keep Frenkie at Barca. I hope he’ll do the same."
