Facundo Pellistri knows there is no shortcut to success and the young winger insists hard work in pre-season will lay the foundations for a strong campaign at Manchester United.
Erik ten Hag's side have been in the United States for their pre-season campaign since July 20, flying out the day after their 1-0 win over Lyon in Edinburgh. The senior squad had three friendlies in the week that followed, as well as their training camp in San Diego.
Pellistri has come off the bench in United's two first-team friendlies in the United States against Arsenal and Real Madrid, having been among the 15 international players to report to Carrington a week later than the rest. The 21-year-old has been working hard to impress and insists that is the only way to prepare for success over the season.

"Being here in a tour, it’s very important because pre-seasons are the time when you have to prepare for a whole season," Pellistri told MUTV. "Of course, we are training so hard, sometimes too much! But it’s very important because that’s the only way we can achieve big things. If you don’t train hard in pre-season then it’s impossible. We are training very hard, and trying to have fun."
Pellistri has been touted for a potential loan move this summer, with the Manchester Evening News reporting in March that United would be open to a temporary exit. The Uruguayan is no stranger to such a move, having spent a season-and-a-half on loan at Spanish side Alaves.
