United made it two wins from two in pre-season, with Donny van de Beek's brilliantly controlled finish the difference-maker in the second half. The Dutchman was in the right place to divert Gore's brilliant cross into the far corner, capping off his return from injury.
A number of young Reds impressed once again at Murrayfield, with Gore's all-action second half causing plenty of problems for Lyon. Mainoo was part of the starting line-up alongside the more senior options, and the 18-year-old looked at home alongside the likes of Mason Mount in midfield.

"I thought Dan Gore epitomised everything that United are about, what the academy has been about through all the years," Simpson told MUTV after the full-time whistle. "He came on and was impressive on the front foot.
"He was controlling the second half, putting pressure on Lyon. It's great to see two young talents in Kobbie Mainoo and Dan Gore come on in either half and play at that level at such a young age."
Mainoo was equally impressive in last week's win over Leeds in Oslo, and the versatile midfielder will hope to keep impressing Erik ten Hag and make it into his first-team plans next season. Hannibal Mejbri and Matej Kovar both showed more promising signs also.
