Emmys 2022: Michael Keaton Wins Best Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series for 'Dopesick'

Michael Keaton has become the first actor to scoop a whopping five major TV awards for the same role after winning his first ever Emmy Award. The actor, 71, was awarded Leading Actor in a Miniseries or TV Movie for his role as Dr. Samuel Finnix in Disney Plus series Dopesick during the awards ceremony.

Emmys royally messed up.While the ceremony got emotional with poignant tributes to late stars in the In Memoriam section, the late Queen Elizabeth II was left out of the segment Monday night.Fans immediately took to Twitter calling out the Television Academy for not honoring the late monarch, who died just last week.“I honestly did want to see The Queen in that in memoriam,” one fan wrote.“Wow so they’re just gonna leave Queen Elizabeth out of the Emmys In Memoriam?” chimed in another. “I’m almost surprised they didn’t get The Queen into the In Memoriam #Emmys,” someone else said.“Shouldn’t Queen Elizabeth be included in the #Emmys2022 in memoriam?” asked another.“The in memoriam section didn’t feature Queen Elizabeth, even after all she’s done for Olivia Colman,” added another.Queen Elizabeth II was portrayed in “The Crown,” which scored 63 nominations and 21 wins over the royal drama’s seasons; both Claire Foy and Olivia Colman have won awards for their portrayals of her.

Michaela Zee editor Michael Keaton, who scored his first Emmy win for best lead actor in a limited or anthology series, reacted backstage to the cancellation of “Batgirl” at the Emmy Awards Monday night. “I think it was a business decision. I’m going to assume it was a good one. I really don’t know,” Keaton said. Last month, it was revealed that Warner Bros. had shelved “Batgirl” and would not release the film on any platform. The DC Comics adaptation, which had a $90 million production budget, starred Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl. Keaton reprised his role as Batman for the feature, which also starred J.K. Simmons and Brendan Fraser.

After his teary speech at the SAG Awards after winning Limited Series Male Actor, Michael Keaton continued his awards march for playing Dr. Samuel Finnix with his first Emmy Primetime trophy tonight for playing the part.
