Emmerdale's Liam Fox in tears over emotional tribute from co-star as fans 'devastated' by Dan's exit

Emmerdale star Liam Fox has been seen in tears as he reacted to an emotional tribute from his co-star as he left the soap after 12 years. The actor has spent more than a decade in the fictional Yorkshire village playing Dan Spencer.
But his time and freedom in the Dales came to a sad end during Thursday night's instalment of the ITV soap (August 17) as Dan was sentenced to a lengthy prison stint following the death of Lloyd Sawyer. Last month, the mechanic was seen losing his temper with Amelia’s stalker Lloyd after previously ordering him to stay away.
While at work at the garage, Dan saw Lloyd leave the church with Amelia before the pair embraced after having what later transpired to be an emotional heart-to-heart. But as Lloyd goaded Dan, telling him he can't control Amelia and that he was probably going to see 'a lot more' of him, Dan snapped and punched him in the face leaving Lloyd to fall before hitting his head on a rock.

Lloyd was then left in hospital fighting for his life and earlier this month, as Dan took to the stand and pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm (GBH), Lloyd was pronounced dead in hospital meaning Dan's charge would change, but his plea would remain.
Finding out his sentence, which he and his friends and family hoped would be lenient due to his previous good character and admission of guilt, the judge decided he had preempted his attack on Lloyd and made an example of Dan. Even a heartfelt speech from Dan couldn't win the tough judge over and he was sentenced to eight years in prison for manslaughter.
