Coronation Street's Paula Lane, who once played the beloved character Kylie Platt, left fans devastated when her character was tragically killed off in the soap. Initially introduced as a villain, she quickly became a fan favourite. In January 2024, Paula made the switch to Emmeradle where she joined the cast as Ella Forster.
However, not much is known about Paula's life outside of her acting career. Born on 17 April 1986, Paula is currently 37 years old. She hails from Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire and attended Huddersfield Technical College.
At just 19, she was accepted into the renowned Central School of Speech and Drama in London, graduating in 2008 with a first class honours degree in acting. Paula's acting journey began shortly after drama school when she secured a role in Heartbeat, marking her television debut as Wendy Kelshaw, a teacher. Since then, she has featured in Terry Pratchett's Going Postal for Sky, The Royal, Doctors and even starred alongside Stephen Mangan in the short film War Wounds.
Her most notable role was in Coronation Street, where she portrayed Kylie Platt, Becky McDonald's half-sister who later married David Platt. Paula temporarily exited the show in 2014 for maternity leave. It was later confirmed that she would be leaving again for her second pregnancy, but this time, she wouldn't be returning.
Her character met a tragic end in episodes aired on 15 July 2016, with her final episode airing on 20 July 2016. Paula's theatre credits are nothing short of impressive, having portrayed Rachel in 'Be More Martyn', Lily in 'The Bengal Lily', and Lauren in the UK tour of 'Kinky Boots'. She also graced the stage in 'Road' at the Oldham Coliseum.
